Embedded Expertise is partnering with a leading mining organisation to source an experienced Control Systems Project Manager to support the delivery of critical PLC and SCADA upgrade projects, brownfield modifications, and control system replacement programs.

This opportunity is suited to a technically capable Project Manager who combines strong project delivery skills with a solid background in industrial automation and control systems. Working as part of a project team, you will be responsible for delivering projects valued between $2M-$5M while balancing safety, operational requirements, stakeholder expectations, and project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver PLC and SCADA upgrade projects from concept through to commissioning.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, resources, and stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, and contractors.
• Ensure safe execution within active mining operations.
• Drive risk management, change management, and governance compliance.
• Coordinate shutdown activities and commissioning programs.
• Achieve project outcomes while minimising operational impacts.

About You

You will be a project professional with a proven track record delivering automation and control systems projects within mining or heavy industrial environments.

To be successful, you will bring:

• 10+ years' experience working with industrial control systems, automation, or operational technology environments.
• 5+ years' experience in Project Management roles.
• Demonstrated delivery of projects valued between $2M and $5M.
• Strong capability across project cost, schedule, resource, risk, scope, and stakeholder management.
• Experience delivering projects within operational mining environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A strong focus on safety, production impacts, and organisational change management.
• Experience planning and executing works during plant shutdowns and maintenance windows.
• The ability to facilitate and lead risk assessment workshops.

Highly Regarded

• Experience delivering projects in a large mining owner-operator environment.
• Exposure to Rockwell PLC platforms.
• Experience with PlantPAx and AVEVA Plant SCADA systems.
• Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
• Previous exposure to BHP operating environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical, Control Systems, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• Formal project management qualifications will be highly regarded.
